For a long time, corrosion is one of the serious hazards of chemical pumps. A little carelessness may damage the equipment, or even cause accidents or even disasters. Therefore, if the chemical pump is to extract some corrosive medium, we should pay special attention to it.
For example, sulfuric acid is one of the most widely used industrial raw materials. Sulfuric acid of different concentrations and temperatures has a great difference in the corrosion of data. As for concentrated sulfuric acid with concentration over 80% and temperature less than 80 ℃, carbon steel and cast iron have better corrosion resistance, but it is not suitable for sulfuric acid with high-speed activity, and it is not suitable for data of chemical pumps; Ordinary stainless steel such as 304 (0Cr18Ni9) and 316 (0Cr18Ni12Mo2Ti) is also of limited use for sulfuric acid medium.
Most common metals are destroyed by rapid corrosion during the operation of chemical pumps. Stainless steel is a widely used corrosion-resistant material, which has good corrosion resistance to all concentrations of sulfuric acid at room temperature. It is worth mentioning that the corrosion resistance of molybdenum containing stainless steel (such as 316, 316L) to sulfuric acid is not only not better than that of general stainless steel (such as 304, 321), sometimes even worse. For high temperature concentrated sulfuric acid, titanium and titanium alloy materials are usually used for chemical pumps.
